Like many other things, loans have become a way of life today. Most people, but, do not generally know the difference between the various types of loans that they avail of, nor do they know how they work. This is right in case of personal loan also. It is better, therefore, to know the basics of personal loans before availing them.

The tenure of personal loans is generally for small periods, varying from 12 to 48 months. These are unsecured loans in that the customer does not offer any collateral as security. Personal loans are sanctioned based on a person’s income proofs as well as residence and identity proofs.

The interest rates charged by the various banks and NBFCs for personal loans can be anywhere between 14 per cent and 25 per cent per annum and repayments are generally in equated monthly installments (EMIs). The Personal Loan Interest Rates are generally high when compared to home or car loans as the former are unsecured loans and the customer does not offer any collateral as security. The cost of servicing small loans is also high as compared to long-term large loans like home or car loans. Moreover being unsecured, the risk involved for the lender is higher.

In most cases, a processing fee is deducted from the loan amount and hence the amount disbursed is slightly lower than the sanctioned loan amount. The processing fee, therefore, is also part of the loan amount and the borrower repays this along with the total loan sanctioned. Generally, interest is levied on a reducing balance method. The EMI is amortized in a way where the interest amount for the tenure is collected in higher amounts in the earlier installments and decreases through the tenure.

Therefore prepayments in a small-term personal loan is not generally excellent for the customer as most of the principal will still be outstanding in the later months of the tenure. Moreover, foreclosure of the loan is not allowed in the first 6 months of taking the loan in most cases and a pre-payment penalty is levied in case someone wants to close the loan early. This is done as the whole cost of lending is calculated based on the tenure of the loan and this cost is recovered through the EMIs over the tenure of the loan.

Also, if the interest rates come down during the period of your EMI tenure, your interest rate will not come down automatically. You will have to see the contract terms and conditions of your bank account. The bank might give a fresh loan at a lower interest rate but for your existing loan, generally the finance company or the bank does not change the interest rate.

Personal loans are conveniently available to fund unforeseen expenses like medical exigencies or one time large payments like admission fee for schools and colleges, marriage and festival expenses, repair to house, and so on. Most banks and finance companies disburse such loans within a week, making this a convenient option to fulfill these needs. Above all, these loans are available without any security and therefore they are more convenient. Borrowers must study all the terms and conditions of personal loans carefully before availing any loan.

Apply personal loan and get best deals from banks.

Evaluating a prospective school prior to pursuing your education at that school is essential. By finding one that renders services that are favourably recognized by the public, you can then be confident of obtaining a satisfying educational experience. In the event that you intend to pursue a dental assistant program, heed the advice below when looking for schools.

Foremost in the list of criteria when evaluating a particular school is to make sure that the programs offered are accredited through the American Dental Association (ADA)’s Commission on Dental Accreditation. This criterion should be stressed because graduating from an accredited program is required for certification by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB). Without graduating from an accredited program, one ought to have two years of full-time working experience as DA in order to be eligible to sit for the certification examination.

While some will opt for brick-and-mortar education, some will opt for online education. If such is the case, you should verify that the online program offered is accredited by both American Dental Association (ADA) and Accreditation Commission of Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). In regard to the content of the program, you should check whether it provides comprehensive training for the many roles that dental assistants will play. In addition, you should also check whether the program places emphasis in preparing you for the certification examination.

Moreover, the program should also include considerable supervised practical work. You want to gain as much exposure as possible to the many different roles that a dental assistant will assume upon becoming a certified DA. On the financial aspect, check whether the school offers loans, scholarships and grants. Lastly, you should find out how many students are awarded certification upon graduating from the school. This way, you can easily have an thought of the quality of the program and teaching staff of the school.

Sick babies, my baby is sick what can I do?, childhood illness what are they ?, baby illnesses is my child sick ?. At some time as a parent you will come across your baby orall of your children getting sick or picking up a germ or disease that can make them poorly. lets take a look at 6 of them and how as a parent you can prepare yourself just in case and help them recover.

1. Croup attacks babies 6 m-3 years. a child may have cold symptoms, like a stuffy or runny nose and a fever. As the upper airway (the lining of the windpipe and the voice box) becomes progressively inflamed and swollen, the child may become hoarse, with a harsh, barking cough. often worse at night and when children are upset or crying. Some children are more prone to developing croup when they get a viral upper respiratory infection. The best way to expose your child to moist air is to use a cool mist humidifier, or run a hot shower to make a steam-filled bathroom where you can sit with your child for 10 minutes. A boiling kettle steam can have the same effect but becareful of scalding near children Breathing in the mist will sometimes stop a child from severe coughing.

If at all worried you doctor will tell you if  steroids are needed. you can help your child by having clear fluids to drink at the side of the bed at night to help keep the throat moist. Croup can often return again.

2. scarletina Scarletina is a rash caused by infection somewhere in the body. If you suspect this rash, even in a child with no complaint of sore throat, you should get medical attention for proper diagnosis and treatment with a complete course of an antibiotic. A week or two after the rash fades you may notice some peeling of the skin especially of the arms and chest, and perhaps even peeling of the fingers and toes if the rash was severe. This is normal.

3. Chicken pox Chickenpox is a mild but highly infectious disease that most children catch at some point. most common in children who are between two and eight years of age, although you can develop chickenpox at any age. You are infectious from about two days before the rash appears until roughly five days after. Therefore you or your child should stay at home until all of the blisters have fully crusted over, and this usually happens five to seven days after the first blister appears. After the last blister has burst and crusted over, you are no longer infectious.

let your child wear cotton clothes, if the tops are scratched off scaring can occur. Use calamine lotion to help stop the itching. seek a doctor to confirm a diagnosis.

4. Threadworms Threadworms are common but are not usually serious. Threadworms infect the gut and lay eggs around your anus which causes itch. Treatment usually includes medication plus hygiene measures. Medication kills the worms, but not their eggs which can survive for two weeks. Therefore, you also need strict hygiene measures for two weeks after taking medication to prevent you from swallowing eggs which may cause a new infection. All household members should be treated at the same time, including those without symptoms.

You usually notice them when chaning a nappy of a child goes to the toliet itching occurs at nightime so make sure your child wears clean pyjamas until cleared up. You often do this without realising while you are asleep. When you scratch, eggs get onto your fingers and under your nails. You may then swallow some eggs if you place a finger into your mouth.

5. Scabies Scabies is a skin condition caused by a tiny mite. It usually causes a typical itchy rash. It can affect anyone of any age. It can be passed on to others by close skin-to-skin contact, most commonly by holding hands. Treatment with a cream or lotion will usually cure scabies, but you need to apply it properly to every part of your body. Two applications of treatment are needed, seven days apart. You need close skin-to-skin contact with an infected person to catch scabies. Most cases are probably caught from holding hands with an infected person. The hand is the most common site to be first affected. But, to play safe, it is best to treat bedding, towels, etc, as described later on. Sometimes outbreaks of scabies occur in nurseries, residential homes, etc, where people are in regular close contact. Children should stay off school until the first application of treatment has been completed. If you wash your hands or any other part of your body during the treatment period, you should re-apply the cream or lotion to the washed areas.

6. Meningitis

Meningitis and septicaemia (blood poisoning) are not always simple to recognise, and symptoms can appear in any order. Some may not appear at all. In the early stages, the signs and symptoms can be similar to many other more common illnesses, for example flu. Trust your instincts. If you suspect meningitis or septicaemia, get medical help immediately. Early symptoms can include fever, headache, nausea (feeling sick), vomiting (being sick), and muscle pain, with cold hands and feet. A rash that does not fade under pressure (see ‘The Glass Test’) is a sign of meningococcal septicaemia. This rash may start as a few small spots anywhere on the body and can spread quickly to look like fresh bruises.

The spots or rash are caused by blood leaking into the tissues under the skin. They are more hard to see on darker skin, so look on paler areas of the skin and under the eyelids. The spots or rash may fade at first, so keep checking.

Bacterial meningitis and meningococcal septicaemia are medical emergencies and need immediate treatment with antibiotics, together with admission to hospital. Some people will be cared for on a general ward, with close observation. Others may need to be cared for in an intensive care unit where their condition can be more closely monitored.

Here are ten actual tips of advice from a pedestrian accident lawyer to follow if you have been in an accident. You can also learn more about how to handle a personal injury in Fullerton, or any city, by calling the Law Offices of R. Sebastian Gibson at any of the numbers which can be found on our website at http://www. SebastianGibsonLaw. com  and learning how we can help you.

Obviously, if you have had an accident, and you are reading all of this advice, it may have been a few hours since the accident. But, if you ever have another accident, or if it’s only been a few hours since you were hurt, here’s what you should do from the start.

First, take a look around and determine if you or anyone, are hurt. If so, taking steps like trying to prevent further injury or loss of blood are the most vital thing you can do. Even if some other driver caused you to be injured, it’s just excellent manners to help the other driver if they are hurt. They may even be so thankful that they admit their fault to you. The worst thing you can do is get mad or start a fight.

Second, make sure everyone is safe from being injured further. If you are in the middle of traffic, and you are dizzy, sit down away from traffic. If your vehicle is a traffic hazard and you have accident warning devices like flares or triangles, place them out on the road to warn other drivers and get away from the car. Let the police an other emergency personnel investigate the scene with the vehicles in place and go them more safely at a later point.

Third, call the police. Accident reports are extremely helpful if the police will do such a report. Let the police know you are injured immediately. Answer the police questions honestly. But if you are dazed or confused, let them know you need medical treatment and answer only what you feel sure about. Remember, your statements can and will be used against you if you admit fault, and it will be too late and too fishy to later say you didn’t know what you were saying at the scene. Police know that your best recollection is immediately after an accident.

Fourth, get the other driver’s information including their names, addresses, driver’s license numbers, make and model of their vehicles, license plate numbers, and their insurance company name and policy number. If there are witnesses, get their names, addresses and telephone numbers as well. If the other driver makes any admissions of fault, write those down as well.

Fifth, if you have a camera on your cell phone or in the car and you aren’t too injured, take some photos of the vehicles and the scene. If you can’t do it straight away, do it after you are released from the hospital.

Sixth, if you are hurt, obtain medical treatment. Don’t decline the ambulance or hospital examination to save your insurance company money or to be stoic. Take your valuables out of your car if you can and get checked out at the hospital. If you are not hurt, don’t get treatment you don’t need. But, remember, after an accident, you may feel a rush of adrenaline that causes you to only start feeling symptoms of pain a few hours later. If you have a health plot that requires you to obtain permission first, call them and find out where you are allowed to seek treatment.

Seventh, call a excellent pedestrian accident lawyer as soon as you have had your initial treatment, so the attorney can gather other vital evidence and prevent the insurance company from taking advantage of you and obtaining such things as recorded statements that you feel fine, when many of your symptoms have yet to manifest themselves. A excellent pedestrian accident lawyer can save you from making a fantastic deal of mistakes and can shoulder much of the hassle of knowing what to do about car repairs, car rentals, medical treatment, witness statements and the like. If you reckon you will save money by not having an attorney, reckon again. A excellent pedestrian accident lawyer can nearly always obtain much higher settlements, obtain reductions of medical bills and insurance liens and prevent you from making costly mistakes. Also, most pedestrian accident attorneys advance costs of obtaining police reports, medical records and the like and are paid and reimbursed for these costs only out of any settlement.

Eight, you will need to report the accident to your insurance company, but since they will want to take a recorded statement from you, just like any other driver’s insurance company, it’s excellent advice to retain an attorney first. And if the other driver did not have insurance, remember that it is your own insurance company that will be your adversary. You will also need to report the accident to the Department of Motor Vehicles and your lawyer can give you the form for this.

Ninth, do not agree to settle your claim privately with the person at fault for the accident. This nearly never works out to your advantage. Don’t agree not to call the police. Police reports that determine the fault for an accident are golden. Your agreement to not involve the police only affords an opportunity for the other driver to change his tale and blame you when the police will no longer investigate the accident.

Tenth, don’t pay a traffic ticket without a fight if you weren’t at fault or agree to accept a small payment for your vehicle repairs without knowing that the amount will in fact cover the cost of all the repairs.

1. Always, always ensure that the online pharmacy that you choose to buy drugs from has contact information (in fact, best practices dictate that you should verify the phone number or instant messaging service, if one is available). 2. If you DO NOT have a doctor’s prescription, go to an online pharmacy that conducts its own evaluation of your symptoms over the Web, via a consultation form. Some offer this service since US federal law requires that class I-V drugs (monitored substances) ordered from oversea pharmacies require a prescription. This type of perscritpion is LEGAL. For more information: see http://internetdruglaw. com. Note: SOME online pharmacies that issue scripts for monitored substances require a costly monthly membership to ensure a more authentic doctor-patient relationship. 3. If you find a Canadian online pharmacy that does not require a prescription for narcotics specifically, I recommend staying clear of it (most, if not all Canadian online pharmacies require that YOU provide your own prescription from a local doctor for drugs which contain monitored substances. In this sense, Canadian online pharmacies are much more legitimate). 4. That leaves you with online pharmacies that mainly operate outside of North America. Instead, they are located in Central America, the Caribbean, or India. Some of these are legitimate companies that frequently use third-party, American doctors to analyze your symptoms over the Web, and subsequently prescribe your drug of choice (all through the online pharmacy); see the link in point 2 for further legal information on this, if you are concerned about it. 5. Get a Temporary or Wire Credit Card and only transfer to it an amount of money equal to what you reckon the final sale will come to (approx. ). Then use that card to buy drugs from the online pharmacy. Why? Read my personal account. Beyond that, there is ONE MORE very vital tip. If you have the time and patience, please do an Internet search about the online pharmacy that you reckon is trustworthy. Normally, you will end up in a forum that has many individuals just like you, suffering from chronic pain, detailing their experiences from said online pharmacy, either for better or for worse. Or email me and I can give you some suggestions depending on your needs.

A medical internship can also be referred to as a period where a student is given hospital-based training that takes place under the strict supervision of experienced attending physicians. The internship is designed in a fashion to transform a college student into a serious medical practitioner. This practitioner is equipped with vital knowledge about daily requirements, workload and pressures related to a physician’s job.

Interns are trained via exposure to a wide variety of conditions. An intern is supposed to see different patients. The more they get in touch with patients, the more they become knowledgeable and experienced. They also become capable of handling different health conditions and diseases. They also buy proficiency at both diagnosis and taking prudent decisions about a specific.

Attending vital lectures and conferences is crucial fro a student during medical internship. The information gained in these conferences can help them in their workplace in the future.

Mainly there are two types of medical internships:

Transitional is a straightforward internship process. The successful completion of this internship in conjunction with stage three of the USMLE or COMLEX-USA allows a licensed medical practitioner to work in a general capacity.

While Heartworm disease in dogs is easily preventable [and treatable], it still continues to be a major problem.

Heartworms are an internal parasite which live in the dogs blood vessels. They are transmitted by mosquitoes which means they can be found throughout the world. It is common for these worms to live in a dogs pulmonary arteries and the right ventricle of the heart. Whether your dog lives indoors or out (those living outdoors are four to five times more likely to be infected), every dog should be placed on a prevention heartworm program.

It is critical for dog owners to know how the life cycle of the heartworm parasite works so as to be able to fully know what to do to prevent and treat it. The infection starts when a mosquito transmits (when biting the dog) an infected larvae. Once on the the dog, these infected larvae burrow under the dogs skin eventually developing into small worms. The entire process from bite to burrowing is one to 12 days. These larvae then remain under the dogs skin for 50-68 days before turning into worms. These worms then make their way through the dogs peripheral vein where they end up in the pulmonary arteries and the right ventricle of the heart. After approximately six months from the time the worms gained access to the dogs system, these small worms turn into adults. These adult worms can grow from 4 to 12 inches (10 to 30 cm) long and can live up to five years. In a dog that has been heavily infested, up to 250 worms can be found. Depending on the number of worms living in an average sized dog, they will live primarily in the pulmonary arteries and the right ventricle of the heart (generally less than 50 worms).

When the worm population increases to more than 75, they will then go to the right atrium (of the heart). If a dog has an even heavier infestation, the worms could migrate into the two large veins that carry blood to the right atrium of the heart. Heartworms can also eventually end up in a dogs lungs where they will cut off the blood flow and then cause the blood vessels to clot. By the same token, worms that wind themselves around a dogs heart valve can interfere with the overall mechanics of the heart; following this, the collapse and death of the dog can take place in just two to three days.

Detection of heartworm in your dog is key to its treatment, depending on how long and how much the dog is infected. Dogs with few worms in their system, or a light infestation, may be asymptomatic. The signs themselves depend on both the size of the dog and the number of worms that have taken hold. Early, typical signs are: tiring easily, difficulty exercising (or not able to at all) and a soft, deep cough. Once the disease progresses, these signs become even more severe to where the dog will lose weight, their breathing will become more rapid and after exercising, they may faint.

Diagnosing heartworm is as simple as a blood test; the most accurate is called the Antigen test (this will identify the antigen produced by adult female heartworms). There are additional blood tests which are also used (whereby a sample of blood is used to identify parasites under a microscope), but the Antigen test is the most common and the one that is used most often. Following a blood test, if it becomes necessary, a chest X-ray is then used to determine the severity of the infection.

To treat heartworm disease, several factors must be considered: number of heartworms in the dog, location of the worms, medical complications, and age and condition of the dog. In layman’s terms, a vet could choose to go after the adult worms first using a drug [intravenously] over a period of two days, that will poison them. Like with any drug, there can be side affects for the dog (loss of appetite, vomiting, vomiting, kidney failure and death). If these worms don’t die, there are additional steps your vet will take with different drugs. If your dog is lucky enough to fall into a category where they can be treated, then three to five months following drug therapy, another Antigen blood test should be done; if all the worms were ruined, the test will come back negative. If the test returns positive, you will need to consider re-treatment.

Ultimately, the treatment of heartworm disease is hard and perilous. Why place you and your dog through this ordeal when you can prevent it to start with. Keeping your dog from being bitten by mosquitoes is the simplest way to prevent the disease, but it is also completely unrealistic. Dog owner’s should talk to their vet about putting their dog on a heartworm prevention program. Administering of this simple to swallow chewable pill (or liquid applied to the skin of the dogs neck) should start at 6 to 8 weeks of age, particularly in areas where large mosquito infestations are prevalent. If you are not living in such a place, the heartworm pill (or liquid) should be given one month prior to the start of mosquito season and continue one month beyond the first frost (May or June to November or December). If mosquitoes are an issue all year long (such as in the Deep Southern U. S. ), heartworm pills (or liquid) should be administered through the entire year. . In addition, any dog that is going to start on a heartworm prevention program, should have the Antigen blood test done first to ensure no heartworm is present. If you opt not to do this test prior to giving your dog the medication, your dog can become ill if heartworms are already living in the dog.

Make no mistake: heartworm disease is deadly to canines, but both you and your dog will be much better off if you just follow the simple prevention steps so as to avoid an outbreak altogether.

You or a loved one tend to abuse drugs or alcohol. They want to know whether and when a drug rehab program is really necessary.

The answer was simple – you need rehab if you are dependent on alcohol or drugs. This is also a signal that> Drug rehab to be necessary – if a person takes an addictive drug for a long time, they are likely to be addictive – but it’s possible they just have to detox – by assisting in the withdrawal – and it need not follow up with rehab.

Both dependency and addiction are both illegal drugs and addictive drugs such as opiates, joint pain, even when used as directed. But, dependency and addiction are often hard to distinguish. In any case, you should seek professional help and not just to stop them. The withdrawal can sometimes be perilous.

It is best to contact a drug rehab program advisor. You will be able to tell you whether or not rehabilitation. But, you should do it quickly: Most addictions start to escalate rapidly as unknown dependency and addiction. Ignoring the situation in each stage is not a healthy alternative.

If it was for you, be honest with yourself – no one can hear – and for some professional help for themselves. You’ve read this far, take care of you, and you’ve earned it.

The path to addiction starts with the first drink, pill, smoking, injection, or whatever is there. Away from alcohol and drug rehab in the direction of –is a tough step, but the first step on this path is a weep for help to ease the passage. Recently Amar had to admit his father to the hospital. Reason being, his 70 year ancient father had taken a nasty fall, during one of his morning walks. But this wasn’t the first time that Amar’s father had taken a tumble! The past few months had seen him being rushed to the doctor for similar falls, obviously Amar was distressed about his father’s regular falling habit. What was first being dismissed as ‘clumsiness’ in his ancient father, soon revealed itself to be Parkinson’s disease!

After speaking to the doctor, Amar realized that there had been many a tell tale signs that his father had unknowingly showcased! Had he known about these symptoms of Parkinson’s, his father would not be in the hospital today with a broken hip bone from a nasty fall!

So what is Parkinson’s?

Parkinson’s is named after James Parkinson, a medical practitioner, who learned the disease in 1817. Parkinson’s is the central nervous systems degenerative disorder, often affecting the older age group from 65 years of age onwards. It is basically a neurological disorder that affects balance, movements and muscle control in the affected individual due to a lack of Dopamine(neurotransmitters) producing cells in the brain!

Our parents are at a greater risk of being affected by Parkinson’s as age is the primary reason for the demise of Dopamine, producing cells in one’s brain! Other reasons for this could be the demise of dopamine producing cells due to environmental toxins, free radicals present in the air that we breathe and drug abuse in the past! Many, dread that Parkinson’s might be hereditary but it is not so, instead having a parent suffering from the disease just increases your risk marginally.

How do I know if my parent is suffering from Parkinson’s?

Even though Parkinson’s is a chronic progressive degenerative disorder and takes around 20 years to fully progress, it does showcase some common symptoms which can helps us identify it early on! Following are some common symptoms which will help you identify whether or not your parent is suffering from Parkinson’s

Tremors: Parkinson’s disease affects the individual’s central nervous system, which helps him control his muscles. With a lack of Dopamine’s, our parents lose their control over their muscles and start to experience mild tremors or shaking in their hands, arms or legs. As, the disease advances, these tremors become more visible and intense, especially when they are standing still or sitting still, and tend to subside when they go the affected part!

For a clear cut sign of Parkinson’s, look out if your parents are doing the pill-roll with their fingers. Pill rolling occurs when the thumb and the fore finger are being rubbed back and forth by your parent continuously for a longer period of time.

Change in Posture: There will be a marked change in the posture of your parent, with their backs stooping a lot, if they suffer from Parkinson.

Slow limited movement: Parkinson’s will curb your parent’s movements reducing their movements to being slow and limited. They will have considerable difficulty in getting up from a resting position, for e. g. they may face difficulty while getting out of a chair they are sitting in, or for turning while lying in a bed.

Stiff, rigid and aching muscles: A common symptom of Parkinson’s showcased early on will be a reduced swing in one arm of the parent whilst walking. This is caused by muscles, affected by Parkinson’s, which become rigid or stiff. Your parents will also complain about unexplained muscle aches in their legs, neck, face and other parts of their bodies, which is again a result of their stiff muscles!

Weakness of facial and throat muscles: Another common symptom of Parkinson’s is the weakening of facial and throat muscles. This makes talking and swallowing hard for them, leading them to cough, drool and in some cases choke too! Weakening of facial muscles also reduces the occurrence of unconscious acts such as smiling and blinking in a person, this leads to a vacant look on the person’s face and is known as the ‘Parkinson’s Mask’.   Speech also gets affected by the weakening of throat muscles; you’ll find that you’re parents have developed a softer and monotonous tone of talking.

Difficulty in walking and maintain balance: If you find that your parent ishaving difficulty in maintaining his balance or walking properly, he probably suffers from Parkinson’s. This will be most noticeable in their shuffling walk, characterized by small steps and a stooping posture; they will most likely have distress turning around while walking. ‘Freezing’, is another symptom of Parkinson’s, wherein the individual suddenly stops any movement, this also leads to the frequent falls that plague Parkinson’s patients. The posture along with the gait disturbance leads to them not being able to balance themselves, which in turn results in constant falls that further impair their mobility.

These are some of the most common symptoms seen in every person suffering from Parkinson’s disease, which can help you identify whether your parent has Parkinson’s or not!

Are there any more symptoms which can help me identify Parkinson’s?

Other than the above mentioned symptoms, there are secondary symptoms which can help you identify Parkinson’s, in case your parent is suffering from it.

List of secondary symptoms of Parkinson’s:

Unfortunately, there are no diagnostic tests that can ascertain whether your parent has Parkinson’s. Neurological testing and brain mapping are used to ascertain whether or not Parkinson’s is present in the individual, MRI and CT scans are also in the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a combination of physical and emotional disturbances that occur after a woman ovulates and ends with menstruation. Common PMS symptoms include depression, irritability, crying, oversensitivity, and mood swings. For some women PMS symptoms can be controlled with medications and lifestyle changes such as exercise, nutrition, and a family and friend support system. Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) refers to uncomfortable physical and mental symptoms that occur before the onset of the woman’s menstrual period. Estimates of affected women range from 40 to 80%. About 5% of women experience symptoms that cause them severe impairment. PMS may start at any time during the years that a woman menstruates. The peak occurrence is in the 20s and 30s. Once PMS starts, the symptoms often continue until menopause. To investigate the effects of pill use on premenstrual mood symptoms, and to identify predictors of pill-related premenstrual mood change, researchers used 1995-1997 data from a community-based sample of Boston-area women aged 36-44. Data were collected through screening questionnaires and structured psychiatric interviews that employed standardized clinical criteria to diagnose past and current depression. The analyses included 658 women who had ever taken the pill for at least three months. Participants were categorized according to whether they reported improvement, deterioration or no change in either of two types of premenstrual mood symptoms-tension and irritability, and moods swings and depression–after they started using the pill. For most women, pill use has no impact on premenstrual mood symptoms, according to a community-based study of women from the Boston area. (1) Roughly three-quarters of participants (71%) reported that premenstrual mood symptoms neither improved nor deteriorated when they started using the pill. But, women with a history of depression that preceded pill use were significantly more likely than other women to experience pill-related premenstrual mood deterioration (odds ratio, 2. 0). PMS remains an enigma because of the wide-ranging symptoms and the difficulty in making a firm diagnosis. Several theories have been advanced to clarify the cause of PMS. None of these theories have been proven, and specific treatment for PMS still largely lacks a solid scientific basis. Most evidence suggests that PMS results from the alterations in or interactions between the levels of sex hormones and brain chemicals known as neurotransmitters. The positioning of the reproductive body as a site of madness or badness functions to marginalize women and to medicalize their distress. Taking Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) as a case example, this paper rejects this pathologization and argues that self-policing practices are associated with the experience and construction of premenstrual change as PMS. Drawing on interviews with 12 British women, it is argued that women’s experience of distress or rage premenstrually is connected to self-policing practices of self-silencing, self-surveillance, overresponsibility, self-blame, and self-sacrifice, and that their positioning of this distress as PMS takes place through a process of subjectification. An outline is given of a woman-centred psychological intervention, which identified and challenged these self-policing practices.

In light of the recent hype concerning the legitimacy of luxury drug rehabs/substance abuse treatment centers, it is critically vital to become as best educated as to how to most effectively differentiate between “pure posh” and those facilities which utilize luxury as a complement to an already sound program. Unforunately, most folks inquiring into treatment for themselves or a loved one are commonly in a terrible emotional state and can be easily swayed by a excellent sales pitch. Hope is a powerful thing, and we can all look back at our lives and recognize times when hope overtook intuition and later resulted in regret.

In the case of luxury addiction treatment centers that are commonly found in areas such as Malbu, California, Florida, Orange County, Arizona, etc. , it is crucial to identify and assess their commitment to the overall recovery process. Luxury can be a wonderful thing if it is properly infused in order to enhance the recovery process. There are obviously many varying opinions within the professional addiction treatment community, but the common denominator is that all licensed treatment centers should focus on the greater excellent of the client and work diligently toward helping to best ensure one’s long-term sobriety, whatever that may entail.

It is highly encouraged for those seeking treatment for themselves or a loved one to diligently engage in the process of seeking the “right” treatment center for their specific needs. Here are a few guidelines, suggestions and questions that should be noted during this research process. :

DISCLAIMER: This article is meant simply to edcucate and make additional insight into the process of deciding on the right course of addiction treatment. While the author of this article has substantial experience within the realm of chemical dependency treatment services, he is not a physician nor is he a licensed addiction treatment specialist.

Some things to say and question:

With some of these questions you may not even know what the answer is in which you’re hoping to hear. That is why prior research about addiction can be very beneficial, but ultimately you will start to get a sense of what level of treatment the facility offers. Listen for the details. For instance, if you question “how much one-on-one time will the patient receive with his/her assigned therapist,” and they respond with “our clients receive quite a bit of individual therapy time” vs. “each client will receive at least one hour per day of individual therapy, and sometimes more if they’re having an especially hard day;” which sounds better to you? If, for example, you question them how much addiction-related experience their staff psychiatrist has and you get a answer stating that their chef was classically trained in Europe’s finest culinary academy then there may be cause for concern. There should ultimately be more emphasis placed on core purpose and treatment protocol than on the accommodations.

Upon admission to a facility, there are two things which will always be performed – aside from admission and psych-social paperwork. One, they will perform a toxicology screening (urinalysis) in order to find out exactly what substances the patient has been using. Two, they will require that all belongings and baggage are thoroughly searched by a qualified staff member in order to ensure that no contraband is taken any further within the facility. These are MUSTS, and while I would never go so far as to diminish the legitimacy of a treatment program, in the case where these two protocols were not diligently enforced it would be fantastic cause for concern! Addicts & alcoholics whom are active in their addiction simply cannot be trusted and must be treated accordingly during the intake process in order to preserve the integrity and safety of the other clients and staff alike. This process will be performed with as much dignity and professionalism as possible, but must be performed nonetheless. The facility must have full and accurate knowledge of the chemicals in their system in order to determine the treatment & detox regimen, and likewise, must have the assurance that the new client is not bringing in anything which may pose a threat to the sobriety and well-being of the other patients.

For more unbiased information on addiction treatment you are encouraged to visit the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration Website (SAMHSA) at: www. samhsa. gov which is operated by the federal government. There is also substantial information available on the Sober Nexus Blog at: www. treatment-center-information. com. Best wishes to you during this process and remember, treatment works best when the patient is willing to let it work, so do your very best to keep a positive mindset and look toward the bright future that lies ahead rather than musty past that cannot be changed.

General Description

Garlic belongs to the same family as the onion. Both these herbs have been given special importance in Ayurveda due to their immense curative properties. The first recorded incidence of garlic as a medicinal herb dates as back as 4500 B. C. when the pyramid builders in Egypt were made to eat garlic cloves everyday for building their health. It has also been recommended by Hippocrates, who is regarded as the Father of Medicine.

Garlic is a biennial herb, but it is generally cultivated as an annual herb for convenience. Morphologically, it is a small herb with fibrous roots, a condensed stem and flattened leaves. The separate cloves of the garlic are enclosed together to form a single bulb. There could be anywhere between six and thirty-five cloves in one bulb of garlic.

It is called as lahsuna in the Indian language and its binomial name is Allium sativum. It contains all the vitamins necessary in the human diet, such as thiamin, riboflavin, niacin (B complex vitamins) and ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Garlic contains minerals such as calcium, phosphorus and iron. It also contains iodine, sulfur and chlorine in trace amounts. Besides all these, garlic contains allicin, allisatin I and allisatin II, all of which have been identified to be agents helpful in bringing down high blood pressure. Properties

Garlic is known for the following curative properties:-

(i) Garlic contains antiseptic properties. Hence it is used in preventing infections.

(ii) Garlic is hypotensive, i. e. it has capacity to bring down blood pressure.

(iii) Garlic is a stimulant for appetite.

(iv) Due to its rich vitamin and mineral content, garlic is very excellent for the hair.

(v) Garlic increases the inner body strength and vitality.

(vi) Garlic can reduce cholesterol accumulated in the arteries. That clarifies its widespread use in the treatment of heart problems.

(vii) The strong juices of the garlic dissolve the mucus content in the respiratory tract.

(viii) Garlic increases perspiration, which helps in the removal of the toxins from the sweat pores.

(ix) Garlic is anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic in nature.

(x) Garlic has notable aphrodisiacal properties. It is used in the treatment of many sexual problems. Uses

Garlic is nearly worshipped in Ayurvedic medicine since it is a single treatment for a wide variety of diseases. The following are the diseases in which garlic proves to be very beneficial.

(i) Acne

Garlic is used in the treatment of acne. If the pimples are rubbed with a cut clove of garlic several times a day, then they will disappear without leaving a scar behind. Garlic must also be included in the diet since it is a blood-purifier and can treat acne from within.

(ii) Asthma

Garlic is a sure remedy for asthma patients. Each night before retiring to bed, asthmatic patients must drink a glassful of milk in which three cloves of garlic have been boiled. Another remedy is very well loved in making asthmatic attacks less severe. It is as follows: Peel a clove of garlic, crush it and boil it in 120 milliliters of pure malt vinegar. Cool it, then strain it and add an equal quantity of honey in it. Preserve this syrup in a clean bottle. Take one or two teaspoons of this syrup with a decoction of fenugreek twice each day, after darkness sets in.

(iii) Digestive Problems

Garlic is unanimously considered by all Ayurvedic doctors to be the best herb in the treatment of digestive problems. Daily consumption of garlic in the food helps in the proper movement of the intestines, which helps in digestion. Due to its antiseptic properties, garlic is also excellent remedy for preventing the inflammations of the gastric canal. Garlic aids in the treatment of colitis, dysentery and diarrhea.

(iv) Heart Problems

Garlic has only recently been proven in the west to be a suitable remedy for heart ailments. It can disintegrate the cholesterol that collects in the arteries, and hence treat the problem of atherosclerosis. It is clinically proven that the chances of a heart attack are significantly lowered if a person who has suffered a minor heart attack starts taking three cloves of garlic on a daily basis.

(v) High Blood Pressure

Due to the rich chemicals present in it, garlic is taken as an effective treatment for high blood pressure. Garlic reduces the spasms of the arteries and reduces the pressure. In addition, it also modifies the heart rhythm and dizziness, shortness of breath and flatulence.

(vi) Parasites

Garlic is an brilliant worm expeller. It is also used in treating bacterial infections in the alimentary canal. The best thing about using garlic as a remedy for bacterial parasites is that it kills the harmful bacteria without harming the useful ones.

(vii) Pneumonia

A decoction of garlic is boiled in milk. This is prepared by mixing one gram of garlic in 250 milliliters of milk and one liter of water. All this is boiled till it reduces to one-fourth of the amount. This is to be taken thrice a day. This is a wonderful remedy for pneumonia.

(viii) Ringworm

Garlic is rubbed over ringworm. This burns out the infection and the skin falls off, leaving healed skin behind.

(ix) Rheumatism

Garlic is used in rheumatism treatment due to its anti-inflammatory properties. In addition to rheumatism, garlic is also used for the treatment of lumbago and arthritis.

(x) Sexual Problems

Garlic has aphrodisiac properties. It is used to enhance libido in men and women. It is used as a sex rejuvenator, i. e. it can improve sexual activity that has been hurt due to accident or disease. It is vital for people who overindulge in sex to protect them from nervous exhaustion.

(xi) Tuberculosis

Garlic is used for tuberculosis in the form of a decoction boiled in milk.

(xii) Whooping Cough

In cases of whooping cough, syrup of garlic is given in doses of five drops sweetened with some sugar. This is given thrice a day, and the dosage must be increased if the problem becomes more violent.

(xiii) Wounds

Due to its antiseptic properties, garlic can be effectively used in the treatment of wounds and ulcers. A excellent antiseptic lotion can be prepared for washing wounds by dissolving one part of garlic juice in three parts of distilled water. When the wound is washed with this lotion, there is marked improvement in a very small time. This also relieves the pain that is associated with wounds due to hurt to the nerves. Special Ayurvedic Preparations

Mostly garlic is eaten raw, and is prescribed to be an integral part of the diet. Precautions

Garlic is a component of the main Indian diet, and there are no problems associated with its intake. Up to six cloves of garlic can be taken per day without any side-effects. The only problem with garlic is that it gives a terrible taste in the mouth and pungent breath due to its sulfur content.

Bed bugs had been the most notorious and annoying parasite or insect in the 19th to the early part of the 20th century. It is believed that during and after the World War II in the United States in the 1940s, the country had really been declared bed-bug free. But travelers from other countries and continents where bed bugs may have continued to thrive made their return to the US possible. Usually, baggage and travel possessions serve as traveling ground or traveling spots for bed bugs from one area to another, from one country to another. You should know what bed bugs look like, to be able to identify them. Bed bugs of course, are insects. Size matters. Bed bugs are so tiny, that sometimes, one can hardly see them with just the naked eye. But when bed bugs mature, they look like other insects. They can be as long as a fourth of an inch. Bed bugs look like other wingless insects. Hatchlings or newly hatched bed bugs are about as small as a poppy seed. Looking or viewing bed bugs, from top to bottom, they are usually flattened. Bed bugs may sometimes look like ants or termites, except that when looked at closely, they have their own physical attributes. What color are bed bugs? Bed bugs, like humans, have different colors. It can be amusing, but bed bugs look like they also have races! Bed bugs’ colors usually are deep brown. But, there are bed bugs that look like biting ants—burnt orange, while there are those that have light tan complexion to nearly white. When bed bugs are hungry, they exhibit a different color than that when they are fully fed. Bedbugs with blood in it look like balloons, but what is inside them is not air but blood. The host or victim’s precious blood may look like a black mass or dark red mass inside the bed bug’s tiny body. Bed bugs also do excrete. When they do, they produce small amounts of liquid that nearly look like blood. Thus, beds or surfaces where bed bugs may have inhabited may be stained with tiny red spots. These spots most of the time have stinky smell, but sometimes, they are not sensed by our olfactory glands. How can bed bugs be found? Because they are so, so tiny and are always crawling at very unnoticeable speed, bed bugs can not easily be detected or seen. During daytime, they stay within their protective habitats or hiding places. Bed bugs look like small creeping objects in crevices and small holes in the floor, the walls or even your bed. If you are observant enough, bed bugs may look or seem as if they are vampires. They may not have the physical characteristics that may scare you the way Dracula does, but they suck your blood. And they can never survive without it. How to exterminate bedbugs? Bed bugs, like any other pests, are so persistent. You can hardly control bedbugs in your room without the professional help of pest control operators or providers. If you have been applying pesticides and harmful pest control substances in areas suspected of having these parasites, chances are greater that you will fail. It is because most of the pesticides in the market are repellant to insects. It means, when you have used one, bed bugs will not be killed. But they will be repelled or they will avoid getting at or near the surfaces or areas where the pesticide is applied. Through that, bed bugs start to wander. Thus, the spread of bed bugs is accelerated. They will start transferring from one spot to another. Or worse, from one household to another. Thus, attempting to control bed bugs on your own may look like attempting to get rid of bed bugs in your home and ushering them into your nearest neighbor. If you have the conscience to allow that to happen, or if your neighbor will not bug or sue you, then go on. But exterminating bed bugs can entail fantastic responsibility and consideration to others on your part. Professionals know better, so leave the job to them. Besides, you may not want to kill yourself through poisoning along with the bed bugs, right?

Poison Ivy is a plant that is to be seen through most of North America and is known in two main varieties – Western, or Pacific, and Atlantic. The importance with Poison Ivy, which grows as ground cover and can become large bushes, is that it contains an oil – Urushiol – that, when it comes into contact with our skin, causes very irritating blistering and irritation. It is in our interest to know that the oil occurs not just in the leaves but in every part of the plant, including the root and the stem, and it is the immune system pushing against the poison, as it seeps into the skin, that is the instigator of the pain we experience. Why Poison Ivy is poisonousIt may seem unusual to us that at plant should be poisonous, but like many living things Poison Ivy has its home in the ecosystem. The way it grows is a clue as it is used as shelter for lower growing plants and ground dwelling animals, and the majority of these are, unlike humans, not affected by the oil. Plus, Poison Ivy gives rise to berries that are an vital foodstuff for a number of bird species. How to identify the symptoms and more about Urushiol oil. The patient will very quickly notice irritation in the skin, mixed with severe itching and inflammation in the infected area. The skin will become a different colour and a burning feeling will occur, and in a small span blisters will form along with the rash. Suffering can persist for many weeks or may be gone within days, and an individual case is different. It is suggested that cooling the skin is a excellent antidote and also prevents further infection. There are many vital factors that people need to get to know about Urushiol oil, and the first is that it is very potent indeed. Research has indicated that a small amount of the oil the size of a pin-head could infect 500 people, and as it is not a water based substance it will not evaporate. The latter point presents a major concern as it means the oil can stay on items it has been in contact with for as long as, and maybe longer than, a year. This gives us the possibility of re-infection, or of a person who has not been in contact with the plant being affliected. Clothes, shoes, tools and pets can all hold the oil, and the tiny amounts necessary to cause suffering give it greater potency. Gloves and coats, and also boots, are among the commonest causes of Poison Ivy infection and should be cleaned thoroughly if contamination is suspected. How we can become infectedThere are many ways that an individual can come into contact with the oil from Poison Ivy, and transfer from already infected clothing and other items is one method as we have already noted. The reason that we suffer when having come into contact with the oil is because of the instant reaction it promotes, and it is notable that direct contact with the plant is not vital to induce a reaction. If Poison Ivy is burned the smoke is full with vaporised oil, and even coming into contact with this mixture can cause an attack. It has been said that a 100 year ancient item once affected a person, an indication of how perilous the plant can be. Anything that has been in contact with the sap of the plant must be avoided, therefore, and dogs kept away from Poison Ivy bushes. How to look after a sufferer of a Poison Ivy reactionIt is essential that treatment is started immediately, and the best method is to wash the problematic area in warm water. A second recommendation is to use a very potent antimicrobial soap and to do all one can to stop the patient from scratching, as this will spread the problem more. It is essential to score the blisters, too, and to enable the area of infection exposure to the air. Keeping blisters bandaged is imperative in order not to allow infection. Remember that it is simply the oil that will allow the infection to spread, so contact with it should be refrained from. The condition will, in a while, clear up by itself, but there are treatments available for the irritation and for the worst reactions. It is the domain of the individual whether to wait for it to subside or to look for further help. Some lucky people are fortunate in that they have no sensitivity to Poison Ivy, but these are rare and most of us would be infected by coming into contact with the ivy. If one knows of Poison Ivy the best advice one can give is the most obvious – avoid it very carefully and don’t let your pet near it.

Facts About Statin Drugs

Statin drugs, also known as HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, are one of the most common pharmaceutical drugs prescribed to patients. They are a class of drugs that are used to reduce the levels of plasma cholesterol. Results from clinical research has shown that these drugs have a variety of benefits such as lowering cholesterol and reducing heart attack risks of patients with diagnosed heart disease.

Types of Statin Drugs

Statin drugs are typically separated into two groups: synthetic and fermentation-derived. The synthetic drugs include: atorvastin (commonly known as Lipitor and Torvast), fluvastatin (commonly known as Lescol), Cerivastatin (commonly known as Lipobay), pitavastatin (commonly known as Pitava and Livalo), and rosuvastatin (commonly known as Crestor. The fermentation-derived include: lovastatin (commonly known as Mevacor, Altoprev, and Altocor), pravastatin (commonly known as Lipostat, Selektine, and Pravachol), and simvastain (commonly known as Zocor and Lipex). Many of these drugs are often available in generic forms.

How the Drugs Work

These drugs work to improve the levels of cholesterol in the blood by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, which is a liver enzyme that aids in making cholesterol. By inhibiting the HMG-CoA reductase, these drugs block the pathway that is needed to synthesize the cholesterol in the liver. The drugs help in significantly reducing the “terrible” cholesterol, known as LDL. They also help increase “excellent” cholesterol called HDL, and moderately reduce the levels of triglycerides.

Drug Benefits

Besides lowering cholesterol, statin drugs have a variety of other benefits, especially for individuals that have heart disease. These benefits include: improving overall function of the vascular system, decreasing blood clot formation, reducing C-reactive protein (CRP) levels, reducing the size of plaques in the arteries, reducing inflammation, and stabilizing plaques. Recent research has also shown that these type of drugs help prevent Alzheimer’s disease, reduce the risk of stroke, reduce blood pressure, reduce the incidence of certain cancers, and prevent cataracts.

Side Effects

These drugs are usually regarded as well-tolerated drugs. The most common side effects of these drugs are gastrointestinal issues such as upset stomach, gas, and nausea. Less common effects include rash, dizziness, headache, and disturbances in sleep. Reports have indicated that these drugs also cause liver enzyme increases in approximately 1 out of 100 patients. There is not much evidence to indicate statin drugs cause serious or permanent hurt to the liver. These drugs can also cause a muscle disorder in about 1 in 1,000 patients that results in occasional pain and weakness in the muscles. A more serious, but rare reaction includes myopathy and myositis. Some reports have shown that these type of drugs can occasionally cause cognitive issues such as difficulty concentrating and some reports indicate a slight increase risk in developing cancer. Experts do not widely accept these indications.

Drug Interactions

Statin drugs should not be taken with a fibrate, which is another type of drug that lowers lipids. A combination of these drugs can increase the risk of rhabdomyolysis and decreased renal function. Patients taking these drugs should also not consume grapefruits of grapefruit juice because it inhibits the metabolism of the drugs.

1) Texas Laws for Drug Testing

Texas law states that if a business wishes to take part in the workers’ compensation system and has over 15 employees than that employer shall formulate a policy for drug abuse prevention. Otherwise there is no state law or ordinance that mandates how a company must conduct their drug-testing program.

2) Types of Drugs

Texas has no state laws that require certain types of drugs be tested for. Alcohol, marijuana, barbiturates and many more can all be tested at the whim of an employer. There is no limitation for private or public companies as to what they can test for.

3) Company Disclosure

State law does require that each employee, on the first day of hire, be presented with a written drug abuse and testing policy. But no company, private or public, is required to post their policy in any public area on company grounds.

4) Written Policy

For those companies taking part in the workers’ compensation program there must be a written policy. The policy must included the following items:

-The purpose of the drug abuse policy must be clarified in a coherent and simple to know statement.

-The policy must list the types of drugs that will be tested for such as alcohol, illegal drugs, drugs that are huffed or inhaled and even prescription drugs if the company chooses.

-The policy must include and consequence for those who are caught or who test positive using drugs that are not allowed per company policy.

-The policy must include information on drug and alcohol treatment programs available and whether these programs are covered by the employers’ health insurance.

-Finally the policy must describe the drug testing the employer conducts to test for use and abuse.

5) Types of Drug Testing

Texas state law does not require any particular form of drug testing be conducted. The employer can choose the type of drug testing they prefer be it the standard urine test or the more sophisticated hair sample or blood test.

6) Who Pays

There is not statute that states the employer or the employee must pay for the drug testing. As standard practice the employer will foot the bill for the drug test.

7) The Lab

There is no law or ordinance in Texas stating drug testing must take place at a hospital, laboratory, or doctor’s office. It is up to the employer to choose where the want to send their employees for drug and alcohol testing.

8) Mandatory Drug Testing

Texas state law does not demand any particular employee be tested for drug and alcohol use. Not even those individuals involved with public safety or who perform perilous tasks are required to be tested for drugs.

9) When Should Drug Testing Occur?

It is up to the company as to when they choose to perform Employee Drug Testing. Most employers will conduct drug-testing prior to an employees first day on the job but this is not a state law.

10) Testing Positive

Companies that participate in the workers’ compensation program must tell any consequences set forth by the company if drug or alcohol use is confirmed. But there is no law or ordinance stating how a positive test must be handled by a company. There is one exception, if an employee has a commercial driver’s license and they do test positive they must be reported to the Department of Public Safety. And, anyone who falsifies a drug test can be prosecuted.

Adolescent rehab programs in the US have stated that drug and alcohol abuse among adolescents is a real problem that should be confronted. One of the prominent teen rehab in Pennsylvania states that parents have a huge responsibility to ensure that their kids are not being induced by drugs.   They should not be harsh with their kids but at the same time, they shouldn’t be too lenient and maintain a watchful eye because this phase of life can be quite vulnerable and be the base of how he or she would be as an adult.

The teen drug abuse statistics are alarming to say the least; just goes to show where the future of this country is heading thanks to the callous attitude adopted by adults and the open culture existence perpetrated by the media and the Internet.   In the US, there are about 3,500 teenagers who smoke every day. Nearly 27 percent of teenagers have confessed to abusing any one drug in the year 2004.   The drug that is most abused in this age group is Marijuana. Teenagers who socialize and frequent parties are known to abuse the Club Drug ‘Ecstasy’. A survey of 10th graders four years back showed that 15 percent used Marijuana, 13 percent of them used inhalants and 6 percent used a club drug

Why do teenagers abuse drugs? According to the reports place forwarded by teen treatment centers that have examined this situation and treated many youngsters, peer pressure and lack of confidence are the largest reasons.   When a fellow teenager boasts about taking drugs and seducing a girl in his class, or when a group of drug-struck teenagers talk about the ‘highs ‘that they get by taking drugs, an impressionable teenager develops the interest in trying it out and that’s where the distress starts brewing

Drugs are known to have perilous effects that can harm a person’s physical and mental development. For one, it can harm the teen’s ability to absorb information and pay attention. Teenagers who have drugs are more likely to indulge in unprotected sex and even have physical relationships with a complete weirder. Teenagers who abuse drugs are usually the ones who are getting into this terrible habit from a young age and if the person does not stop his or her addiction, it can be very hard to get rid of this problem and even when treated, there are chances of relapse when quitting the drug addiction.

Anabolic steroids cause a lot of sexual problems in both the sexes. The reproductive organs are not developed properly, men tend to become impotent, and women suffer from hair loss and clitoral enlargement. Additionally, there are other repercussions like acne, skin diseases, baldness, stunted growth, stroke, liver diseases, cancer and risk of HIV/AIDS in both sexes, given the fact that some of the drugs can make a person promiscuous in nature

Substance abuse can affect the body systems and depending on whether the body is able to process the drug or not, there have been many instances of interrupted breathing from sedatives, permanent brain hurt from inhalants and heart attacks from stimulants.   Needless to say, all of these drugs can lead to death as well.    Drugs according to teen rehab centers, may be taken by teens to mask their fears and anxieties but in retrospect, they really increase these worries after the momentary ‘high’ is lost and due to increased depression, a person can really commit suicide, kill someone or even become a homicide victim.

For many people living in the United States and Europe ‘medical aid’ is a term used to describe humanitarian health help provided to poor third world countries. But in some countries like South Africa, medical aid refers to a type of private health insurance. The cover it provides pays doctors’ fees, hospital costs and medication. The type of policy structure available is typically individual, couple or family cover. Policies require a main member and dependents can be added onto the main member’s policy. The cover it provides is intended to provide members and dependents with access to private healthcare without the crippling financial expense.

How does it work?

All the members of a medical aid scheme pool their money together. This money is collected monthly in the form of a premium. If a member requires medical services the money is taken from the fund to pay for this. The basic concept behind a medical aid scheme is that the majority of members will be young and healthy and will pay for the medical expenses of the older, sicklier members who are in the minority. Medical aid schemes also generate additional funds by investing the pooled funds.

The public health system in South Africa is extremely overburdened and is often mismanaged. This means that treatment is often of poor quality even though it is free. The alternative, private healthcare, is very expensive but very high quality. Medical aid schemes allow access to the private healthcare for a nominal monthly fee. Access to these top-class hospitals and doctors would otherwise be out of reach for most South Africans. The monthly premium is calculated based on factors like the amount of cover required, number of dependents, income of the policy holder and age.

Medical Aid vs. Health Insurance

Health insurance and medical aid differ significantly, but are essentially both insurance products, provided by service providers, used to cover medical expenses. Health insurance is a typical insurance type product where cover is paid for and if an incident occurs the claim is paid out. Medical aid is not incident based; it pays for medical services and products on an ongoing basis. Medical aid policies do not mature and do not include the numerous exclusions that health insurance policies have hidden in the small print.

One significant difference is that anyone may join a medical aid scheme regardless of their current health conditions. There is no discrimination as far as access to open medical aids other than a one year restricted cover period. Even if you suffer from HIV or cancer you may join any open medical scheme and delight in full cover after one year. Health insurance policies typically exclude people from access based on current or past ailments. There are closed medical schemes that restrict access based certain factors like employer and level of education, but none may restrict access based on current or past health.

National Health Insurance

National health insurance is similar to medical aid, but instead of it being an optional buy, all citizens of a country are required to pay for it via their tax contributions. NHI (national health insurance) currently exists in places like the UK, Canada and Australia. It allows members to use both public and private hospitals and doctors. There has been much debate in countries like South Africa regarding whether optional medical aid schemes or NHI is better. This debate is similar to the universal healthcare debate in the United States and does not seem likely to be chose anytime soon.

For the moment, medical aid schemes are the best option for South Africans who want private healthcare cover.

Got a Pre-Employment Drug Test Coming Up? Maybe you’re being drug tested as a result of an accident at work or for a custody battle. Maybe you are just being victimized by the ol’ random drug test thing. Whatever your reason for drug testing, you’ll be glad to know that many have questioned me to investigate how to pass a drug test. I took the challenge and have made a series of articles dealing with the subject of “How to pass a drug test…”and the plethora of proposed methods of doing so. After reading these articles you may better know and know how to ready yourself and in the end to pass that damned drug test.

It all starts with research. Researching any medication you are currently taking, whether over the counter or not, which might cause you to fail your pre-employment, random, post accident or custody drug test is an absolute must. Beware! A lot of today’s most common medications can cause your drug test to show a positive presence of a number of illegal and controlled substances. A few examples of over the counter medications would include Dexatrim, Advil, and Aleve which show positive results for THC and Ecstasy. It would behoove you to Skip those drugs for at least 72 hours before you take your drug test.

We can’t do much about those post accident or random drug test fellas other than consult with our attorney. I would advise anyone to seek the opinion of their own physician before undertaking a pre-employment, or custody drug test. I would also advise you carry a detailed list of all over-the-counter and prescription medications you may have taken for the last six or seven months to show to your doctor at least a week before your test so that s/he can instruct you on how many days before the test you should stop taking them to insure there’s no inaccurate “fake positive” drug test result as a consequence of your legal medication(s).

I would also advise you be careful what you eat. Your doctor should be able to give an opinion on what not to eat before your drug test. Certain foods can deliver a positive reading on your drug test. Eating anything with poppy seeds for example, may cause you to test positive for opiates such as, codeine and morphine, the two substances that heroin is broken down into. Now don’t get me incorrect, there was a woman who successfully sued an employer after they withdrew their lucrative job offer. It appears she ate two poppy seed bagels the morning of the interview and pre employment drug test. The woman was awarded $859,000. You may or may not be so lucky. It would be much simpler to just change your dietary habits temporarily to assure yourself a more favorable drug test result.

If you’ve experienced multiple fake positive drug test results, I would advise you question for a different type of drug test. Rather than a urine drug test, you should request they use saliva, hair or sweat samples for example, to see if this changes things in your favor. Labs use a variety of test methods such as mass spectrometry or gas chromatography each breaking down your sample’s components and reaching the result in a different way.

Here’s that darned disclaimer: There are probably many legal ramifications one must consider when writing an article like this, so I’ve gotta tell you any information provided in this article is not intended to interpret the law nor is it intended to give legal or medical advice. Anything in this article that appears to be legal or medical advice should not be followed. If you have concerns about an upcoming drug test, please seek the counsel of a competent physician for medical advice and a competent attorney for legal advice. Reminder: DD Williams does not advocate Drug Use.

The road to a slimmer and healthier you can be an arduous journey and it is a lifelong battle, but with liquid hoodia things are simpler than before and you are no longer alone. Liquid hoodia is a diet supplement that aids dieters by helping then suppress their appetite making the diet program prescribed by their health providers not hard to follow. There are a number of hoodia products available in the market today we have hoodia gum, tea, powder, tablets, capsules, patches and liquid. Lately the most sought after product is liquid hoodia. It is simple to be swayed by over the top product marketing strategies online. Promises are all written in bold and capital letters and product slogans can sweep you off your senses. So before you rush and make any buy online allow me to share with you some very vital things that you need to know about hoodia and hopefully you will be able to make well informed decisions.

What is Hoodia and how does it work?

Hoodia is known worldwide as the miracle cactus—it is the miracle that dieters are praying for and it does look like a cactus but it is not. It is really a succulent plant with a spiny body and saucer like flowers that only grows in scorched and barren lands such as the South African Kalahari Desert. There are 40 identified hoodia plant varieties all over the world but the one that is known to be effective in suppressing the appetite is the hoodia gordonii which only grows in South Africa. This plant has the P57 molecules that fools the brain by making it believe that the body has enough blood sugar level and instantly shut down the body mechanism for hunger. That is why this is very useful to dieters who find it hard to resist the temptation to go binge eating and helps them adjust easily to eating with only small parts or servings.

What makes liquid hoodia the brilliant choice?

All pure hoodia products are excellent but if you have difficulty swallow tablets, you want extra strength and quick action then liquid hoodia is the brilliant choice for you. The advantage of liquid hoodia is the body absorbs it quickly because it goes directly to the blood stream since there is no need for digestion. You will feel its effect only after few minutes of taking or drinking it. Second, the absorption level of active ingredients in liquid is 95-98 percent while in capsule or tablet it is only to maximum of 20 percent. Lastly, liquid hoodia only has the active ingredients without any secret components while in tablet/capsules manufacturers usually use binders and fillers that clarify why the dosage for hoodia in solid manufactured form is higher (400 mg-1500 mgs per day) compared to liquid hoodia.

How is liquid hoodia made?

To make hoodia gordonii marketable and simple to import because it only grows in South Africa, manufacturers transform it into powder form. There are two kinds of hoodia powder forms and we have: whole plant powder and concentrated core powder. Whole plant powder is cheap and considered low grade because it was made by grinding the entire plant parts of hoodia gordonii. The active ingredient can only be found in the inside of the plant stem. So whole plant powders have more fillers than the active ingredient. Concentrated core powder on the hand is made from peeled hoodia stems only. So this type of powder is expensive and very effective. The powder is then added with alcohol or non-alcoholic extracts like water and vinegar so that the active ingredients separates from the powder.

So it is advisable that when you buy liquid hoodia you have to check if it is made from whole plant powder or concentrated core powder because even if it says it is liquid hoodia it is not a guarantee that it is pure or effective if it is not made from high grade powder form.

Liquid hoodiarequires lesser dosage compared to tablets and capsules so please check what is the recommended dosage for you first based on your weight, health condition and diet program.
